There are all kinds of stories in visual novels. Some are action packed mecha tales while others focus on pure romance. Certain titles include sexual content as part of the story (eroge) and others (nukige) make that their sole aim. Immoral Study Scenario 1: Shirakawa Reiko falls squarely into the nukige camp.

Players step into the disgusting mind of Professor Hitosuji. Despite being called a “Professor,” he’s actually a math tutor. Well, that’s a bit of a stretch. He’s really focused on using this as a facade to get closer to high school girls. This dude’s a huge predator who just set his sights on Reiko Shirakawa.

Reiko knows almost nothing about men thanks to her millionaire father shielding her from everything for years on end. Unfortunately, she’s awful at math. This leads Hitosuji to her doorstep. Aside from a rightfully distrustful maid, no one cares about his strange tutoring methods. Almost immediately, the Professor gropes Reiko which prompts both confusion and vocal rejection.

Of course, given Hitosuji’s mindset, her protests go unheard. The noncon aspect of Immoral Study Scenario 1: Shirakawa Reiko comes across as extremely gross. With that said, the fantasy aspect eventually takes hold as Reiko decides she wanted all of this from the start. According to her, Hitosuji’s here to save her from herself. Whatever.

When it comes to gameplay, there’s not much to it. Players receive ample opportunities to speak/look at/interact with Reiko. Correct choices prove abundantly clear. Making the wrong choices rarely leads to a bad end. You won’t need a guide to complete the game. Even so, it leaves a bad enough impression that most won’t even want to finish.

Immoral Study Scenario 1: Shirakawa Reiko takes only forty minutes to read. It offers only one ending (not including bad ends). Moments of humor in the game are welcome, but hardly make up for the rest of the experience. At least the 90s era anime artwork looks fun and refreshing. It’s hard to believe this title spawned two sequels.
