Welcome to a brand new day of Steam sales! This time around there’s a nice batch of recent games paired with some slightly older, but still wildly popular, titles. Click “read more” to see what’s new.
“Buy” means simply that this is a very good price for the game. Still, “buy” isn’t necessarily giving any particular game my seal of approval either. It’s just a price that seems fair for those interested in the given title. “Wait” means I suggest waiting for another sale. The price very likely is the lowest it will be during Summer Sale 2014, but it is estimated to be cheaper in sales weeks and months down the road. Of course, if you can’t wait then go ahead and buy!
- Age of Wonders III – $19.99 – This is one (apparently) lovely strategy game that launched a few months ago. 50% off is quite a deal considering, but far from the price one expects from a mighty Steam sale. Wait.
- Blackguards – $13.59 – Prior to today, Blackguards never reached a price this low before. Of course, with such a high price to begin with even a 66% discount it’s still not a must buy. Wait.
- Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons – $2.99 – A lot of people seem to love this game. After an initial huge discount, Brothers has slowly chipped away at its price during sales. It may not hit lower for a good deal longer, however. Please note that a controller is required to play. Buy.
- Call of Duty: Ghosts – $29.99 – Activision is mighty stubborn when it comes to discounting their games on Steam. Unfortunately, 50% off might be the best you see. If you’re a PC CoD fan then you’ll have to suck it up, otherwise pass this up. Wait.
- Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition – $6.79 – At first glance this looks like a great deal, but actually there have been even stronger discounts at Steam and elsewhere. Most notably, it was seen at $4.99 last year. Wait.
- Metro: Last Light – $6.79 – Metro: Last Light follows the typical trend of digital games. It starts high, and decreases in small amounts with each additional sale. There’s a good chance it’ll shave a few more dollars off its price before bottoming out. Wait.
- Murdered: Soul Suspect – $33.49 – Looking for a game with perhaps the most tepid release of the year? The divisive title is only 33% off since it launched in June. With that said, it should definitely decline further with time and will no doubt become bargain bin material for consoles. Wait.
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist – $7.49 – Not a bad price, not at all… Oh wait, as it turns out GamersGate recently sold it for $4.62. Well, if you really need Blacklist right now it’s a fair deal, but otherwise it will be available for cheaper again. Also, this uses Ubisoft Uplay. Wait.
- Torchlight II – $4.99 – Torchlight II first dropped to 75% off during Summer Sale 2013 and has never been sold for cheaper. As such, this is probably your best bet, and honestly a great price for a fun Diablo-like game. Buy.
